The Show - 10/08/2006

The

Glendale Show at
Wooler on Monday 28th August 2006

As always, The Glendale Show promises to be a fun day out for all the family, bringing town and countryside together with something for everyone. The premier event in North Northumberland attracts over 12,000 people each year and, set against the stunning backdrop of the

Cheviot Hills , the show provides a picturesque and fun day out for all ages.

The Glendale Show, now in its 114th year, celebrates all aspects of farming and rural life, from the best of livestock to the latest innovation and diversification in the region. This year's star attraction demonstrates this perfectly. The Main Ring will play host to a most unusual dancing troupe - a team of JCB's and Robot Skidsters! With their dare devil stunts, magic and formation dancing, the power, versatility and accuracy of these wonderful machines and their operators is sure to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Also in the Main Ring, visitors can enjoy a wonderful display of Icelandic Horses, be entertained by the City of

Newcastle Pipe Band and see many other attractions.

Need to recover from the adrenalin-inducing excitement of the Dancing Diggers? Then how about a spot of retail therapy? With around 160 trade stands, visitors are sure to find something to tempt them. From hot-tubs and spas to equestrian and pet products, from clothing and footwear to handicrafts and giftware, the Show offers an all round retail experience. And if you need some refreshment after all that shopping then you will find a wonderful array of local speciality food stalls, catering and bar facilities to chose from.

Although life in the countryside may be changing, Glendale Show is still proud to successfully feature many of the attractions that have been at its heart throughout the years. There are still the livestock classes, still the stick dressing and still the industrial and horticultural sections with their huge displays of baking , vegetables, flowers and craftwork.

And the Show is starting to develop some 'new' traditions of its very own with this year seeing the fourth annual Glendale Show Fell Race, organised by Glen McWilliams. This is 6 mile race held in accordance with FRA rules and safety regulations. Last year's race was so popular that a two mile junior race has now been introduced. Entries can be made at the Showfield on the day between, 1pm and 2pm – still time for a spot of training, then!

As you can see, the Glendale Show really does offer something for all the family, and the Glendale Agricultural Society looks forward to seeing you there.
